no, it's a waste of time anyway during someone's childhood/adolescence
all the people i know who were in accelerated programs and took calc in middle school are either doing bunk research or wageslaving for a basic ass income
for the amount of work they put in and not having any time to themselves, it wasn't worth it imo
i have other friends who did fuck all and they make good money either being in a managerial position where they do a lot of nothing or by starting their own business

Yes, my parents encouraged me to learn about science and also engineering and technical stuff in general.
They gave me all sorts nice books, I particularly like two huge encyclopedias with condensed knowledge of whole STEM.
Also my mum was a teacher so she most likely knew where and how to point my attention.

My parents are humanities midwits and my dad encouraged me to read sci fi and fantasy novels when I was a kid; I went through LotR and ASoIaF by the time I was 13 years old
All that did is turn me into an asocial escapist weirdo
He also used to play a 'quiz show' type game with me where he'd challenge me with random trivia, but by the age of about 15-16 it was all over because I knew more shit than he did at that point
Ultimately I ended up being fascinated by biology and chemistry in school, and an anaesthesiologist now, so I guess it worked out

I was shit at arithmetic for a while so my mom forced me to practice daily for two hours when I was 7-9, she's a chemist so I got my hands on nice chemistry sets which helped me discover my love for fire and mixing shit together along with an antfarm I fucked up by throwing a wrench at the glass.
I ended up studying math and physics, particularly complex systems and chaos. I don't like to code so most of the stuff i've published are theorems about emergent properties of different kinds of models that mostly involve biological systems, psychology, sociology or atmospheric science type bullshit. It's pretty fun because I feel like a God among retards.

Yes, they bought me astronomy and biology encyclopedias since I was 5, I couldn't read yet so they read them for me or I just looked at pictures of plants, planets, animals. Comfy time.

lol no. my mom didn't help me or motivate me at all. she's so dumb she wanted me to do sports because my older brother wanted that as a kid and she didn't help him. all of that while I wanted to become a pilot and was way more interested in computers and science stuff than in sports

True, physical work is dangerous and some will make you ill (like coal mining giving you lung disease) but all things considered I still would go for average physical job over average "white collar" job and skilled blue collar jobs are really good, good carpenters and plumbers probably earn good money and remain stronger and healthier than most office workers. For example if I couldn't find a nice job after getting a botany degree I would rather work as a gardener than anything office related.

My parents wanted me to become a Medical Doctor and/or study more History and Philosophy.

But I'm better at coding and math,
and I hate Organic Chemistry and Humanities.
