whats the point in learning math and science? all of the low hanging fruit problems have already been solved and now everything is giga complex and you are just a cog in the academia machine

its a job like any other. you pay bills with it and live and hopefully you enjoy it more than other jobs. That's it. You won't be the next Einstein, and even if you were, it's not as cool as it sounds. You'd still live the same life, eating, shitting, working.

Same reason why you go to the gym but instead of exercising your muscles you’re exercising your mind. It makes you a better problem solver when you challenge yourself mentally. If you continue to not challenge yourself you don’t grow. Or you can do the opposite and consume nothing but media (including social media and 4chan) and poison your mind. Your mind needs the exercise to run at a high level.
