For starters I realize asking for medical advice on 4chan is retarded, but I'm going to post here anyways. About 5 weeks ago, me and the people I live with all became sick. I wasn't concerned but my roommate got tested and came back positive. I lost smell and taste. On the 8th or 9th day I woke up with symptoms so severe I had go to the ER. They said I tested positive for covid. I recovered after that.
Fast forward to 7 days ago, I became sick again. The symptoms were exactly the same, but this time more intense. Everything I read online said that reinfections are extremely rare. A few days ago, again my symptoms became so severe I went to the hospital. I checked the calendar and it had been exactly 1 month since the first time I went to the ER.
They gave me a few tests for mono/strep throat/etc, and then they also administered a covid test. The doctor told me it's just procedure but that theres "almost no way" I should test positive and told me the same thing I read online, that reinfection are extremely rare.
I got the results today and they told me it was positive.
Does this mean I actually got reinfected? Or could it just be from before? Does anyone know more about this? As I look online I find different sources vary, but the general trend I have seen is that reinfection is rare and usually milder, not more severe, than the first infection.
