If they wanted to help "oppressed classes of people" they would start by giving higher paying wages or social benefits to impoverished communities, but they never do this. They do the opposite of lowering their prospects by importing cheap pseudo-slave labour. There would also be more political power (direct democracy) and freedom of speech. But the "left" is explicitly anti-liberal and opposed to those ideas. They also look down on the poor, "uneducated" rural populations with disdain.
They also always fight for higher income tax (i.e. keeping rising lower and middle class families down) and never seriously consider asset wealth taxes and higher capital gains tax etc. which would actually affect the top 5%.
