Does everyone have an internal monologue. I've read some basic studies that say not everyone has one, but what is that look and what percentage of people do not have it?
I have recently started reading a book in which the author claims that the inner monologue was not a thing in humans until a few thousand years ago and that internal speech would only pop up every now and then when under extreme distress and many people interpreted this as god or spirits speaking to them.
