I've always had issues with how we think of the concept of "temperature", because I think temperature really doesn't exist, we simply assume it for our immediate level of application.
When you go into quantum or even some areas of thermodynamics, you realise it's a convenient lie we use because it's so embedded in our lives at this stage as a concept. In reality, we're seeing something completely different and calling it temperature because we really only need to go that far with how we use the term until recently.
I think it's a terrible method of understanding the properties of what is actually occurring though. Seeing meteorologists trip over themselves time and time again over the years has made me realise this. This method is not working as well as it should.
