I research soft matter physics for my PhD, a topic that requires some pretty weird math. One of these is path integrals, which are used to solve problems in polymer physics.
i didn't understand them for shit so my supervisor told me to have a look at Feynman's work, called "The Principle of Least Action in Quantum Mechanics" as a motivator. It was a masterclass in mathematical physics. To date one of the best monographs I've ever read.
Only, it wasn't a monograph. It was his PhD thesis. He wrote it at the age of 23. Like holy shit, only one in a million of you will ever be able reach that level of mathematical imagination. The man was a monster.
