Then you could point out that WW2 was started because of the invasion of Poland, and ended with Poland being occupied by Russia for 45 years.
Then remind him that without the Holocaust, it's hard to justify supporting the USSR against the Nazis.
Point out that the confessions obtained by torture with figures so high that historians later decided that they were exaggerated do not discredit anything.
Finally point out that just because the allies could invent and implement the first computer and atom bomb doesn't mean they could forge an arbitrary amount of paper documents during the same time frame. I recommend you avoid entering in a semantic debate about the meaning of "de-rooting" though.
