If the barrier which caused allopatric speciation disapears, and the speciation hasn't gon too far, it can reversed. In our case it was a second wave of migration (third and fourth in some cases). With no separation, we can't easily coexist, because we fill the same niche. So we killed, and/or integrated (a nice way of saying raped) everyone else. As for the reasone WE made it? We were not the strongest, not even necesseraly the smartest, but we had the highest social intelligence. We had much larger groups. So we outnumbered everyone. Interestingly, our evolution has still not stopped when it comes to selection for social intelligence.
