Reviewing papers for free, especially when a for-profit journal asks you to, is the biggest most laughable scam I can think of. Like why on earth would you work for free? I understand you might be interested in whats cutting edge in your field etc. but you must be delusional to do the work for free, I bet those editors think PIs are gullible as fuck. What do you get out of it, good boy points in academia??

When are people going to stand up to this shit and demand compensation for their time and efforts. The for-profit journals are making a killing so why shouldn't they pay for your services. I can make a compromise for community-driven journals but overall it seems fucking retarded.
