If you can prove your research can be monetized in some way, that group will just give you a stack of cash.
You could try to get funding from local government. If you're in a big city, check out the resources involved with that city explicitly, or the county. They have websites, and they do fund projects, and have probably worked with your university before.
There are national organizations for pretty much all major fields of study. Look into organizations involved in your major, but specifically the ones that specialize in your field. These organizations have phone numbers and people you can contact. Call them, explain who you are and what you need. A few hundred dollars won't break most camel's backs.
Failing all that you come back to specifically reaching out to individuals and/or businesses that could benefit from your research. That's close to self-funding, but may work.
