I hadn't heard of gpt-2. The first few music A.I.'s I heard did not impress me, like you describe.

Listen to music by people with music degrees. Plenty of it is awful, the rest is not great. The theory they teach is school incomplete, leaving enough discretion to the composer to compose something lame.

I am not posting music here now, but I really think mine is in a different league. I have been in no rush to publish academic results or develop a commercial product, and gone deep with the r & d, dedicated my life to it.

Somehow the U.S. government decided I was "mentally incompetent" though, and when no one protested that retarded decision, I had to lose respect for humanity.

Using the same operators doesn't make music the same as mathematics. I could represent IV as something completely arbitrary, associate it to a sound and define the symbol "+" as addition, and then say, it means this and this, makes this sound.
Something like a chord is represented by the symbols which are defined.
