If species are defined by being unable to produce offspring with the specimen of different species, does that mean that every individual bacteria is its own species, given that they cannot mate at all? And isn't it somewhat silly to define "species" using the concept of sexual reproduction given that the total biomass of species capable of asexual reproduction is higher than that of those that exclusively use sexual reproduction?
