Any doctors here can give me an opinion on this? My appendix burst and it took the hospital over a week to correctly diagnose it. They sent me home saying it was food poisoning. After finally getting a CT scan they said a huge abscess had formed and they can't do surgery. I've been given antibiotics and discharged.

I'm just wondering if this means I no longer have an appendix, since it burst. Will my body clear out all the pieces of appendix eventually or do they just float around inside my abdomen for the rest of my life?
