She had a bite then the classic EM, then doxycycline - as it much later turned out - for not long enough.
She got gradually worse with random symptoms over a few years, when she was put in a ward as nobody could figure out why she was sleeping 16 hours a day or had resting heart frequency of 110, etc - must be her nerves.
Nothing they did helped until one of the docs read an article on lyme disease and asked for tests.
They immediately put her on high doses of antibiotics, stopped everything else. She got better in weeks.
A year and a half on and off abx made all her symptoms go away and left her with some liver damage. As I remember the first round made all the difference. 10 years since and no relapse.
