That's what he claims. He did some good work with mRNA in the late '80s and '90s and even gets credited for this work by other researchers, but his calling himself the inventor of mRNA vaccines is a highly disingenuous flex in the context of the mRNA COVID vaccines.
/pol/ can't decide whether mRNA vaccines are totally new or were "invented" in the '80s. It depends on what needs to be argued against, I suppose.
