Terraforming Thought Project

No.13302865 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Alright, /sci/. Let's say you're contracted to terraform an Earth-like planet. Earth II has gravity, rotation, sunlight, magnetic field, local sattelite, etc, all within 1-5% of Earth's standards, posesses massive freshwater oceans and waterways, but is completely lifeless. We'll assume your ship is proceeded by a drone ship that will deploy "atmospheric refineries" across the surface, so you'll have proper levels of Oxygen, Nitrogen, etc.
YOUR JOB is to join the first colony group (with 100 years of supplies) and help establish a functioning ecosystem. You are the lead:
>BOTANIST - choose TEN PLANT species
>ZOOLOGIST - choose TEN ANIMAL species
>ENTOMOLOGIST - choose TEN INSECT species
Whatever you don't pick can/will be filled by other consultants. You will be provided enough samples, staff and equipment to maintain your project - several tons of arable soil for botanists, feed and replacement-level populations for animals and insects. This is not the only seeding of the planet, only the first wave of Terran lifeforms.

tl;dr what 10 plant, animal, or insect species do you bring to a new planet?
