I have been stuck on this site since I was 12, I have lurked /sci/ for years and contributed to the decrease in the quality of this board before I realized at 16 just how much of a retard I am. To cope with my stupidity, I chose to study Economics and wasted 2 years of my life on it. At the beginning, it was because I was interested in payment systems, but it quickly turned into an excuse for not being actually productive and studying Mathematics. All of that knowledge is essentially useless.
Now at the age of 18 I came to the realization that if after 6 years of lurking a board dedicated to science I still don't know anything about science. It's June right now, and this year I have read my FIRST book on Mathematics which is Axler's Precalculus, and a bunch of useless econ textbooks. The progress I'm making is minuscule, and it's quite obvious that if it goes on like this my future is doomed.
I have thus come to the conclusion that I must find a person who is older than me which I could take an example of. The reason why that person would do mentor me is because they would free themselves a lot of time (I would help them achieve their goals in exchange of the education that comes with it). I will adjust to you. If you are willing to mentor me in a subject related to: Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, then contact me at: stroustrup@ctemplar.com
I'm serious and all posts that attempt to dissuade me or whatever will be ignored. You will never understand what does spending so much time on a board full of intelligent people does to a child, who grew up in a pathological family without any figure of authority. At first it's just admiration, but at the end it's depression
