His mouse-telomere hypothesis is more than plausible, yet clearly our pharma industry is too corrupt to not investigate it thoroughly. Industry in general is just too good at suppressing scientists: smoking, climate change and a fuck ton of other stuff.
Despite this I think Bret will probably still be forgotten, but the mouse-telomere stuff will still linger in the general scientific community for a while, sporadically getting brought up and lost until it become almost certain that we'll have to verify it. Bret won't get vindication in his lifetime, or even for a few lifetimes after his death, but eventually he'll get recognition on some level. That's just my opinion.
