Teaching: what do you guys think about it? Is it a noble responsibility, fun activity, just a job, or waste of time? What are your techniques?
Personally, I like to teach. Normally I'm an unhappy & lonely person, but teaching (esp. intro courses) makes me feel "wanted" in some sense. I don't follow any particular tenets, but I really like these general pieces of advice from Feynman and Paul Halmos:
Explain in simple terms, tell a story, draw pictures. (1) say what you're going to say (2) say it (3) say what you said.
I hope this can be a comfy discussion!
