Starting from the discovery of fire, then following cooking of meat that enabled our brains to grow larger, which enabled the paradigm shift to agrarian based society, which created civilizations, which enabled the inquiry of the nature such as math and science, which led to the inventions of simpler things over the centuries up until industrial revolution and modern manufacturing, which enabled the production of more complex products. Parallel to that was the societal developments that enabled the progress of science and technology, but also created conflicts and wars. Which led to the WW2 and Germany creating advance in rockets in order to gain am advantage, but lost, and all the rocket technology was assimilated by the US and the Soviet Union after the allied victory, which led to space race, which led to the development of rockets and eventually humans landed on the moon. Of course I've painted with a very wide brush strokes and going into details regarding any of these developments would take an inordinate amount of time.
