Dude you do not know what you're talking about. I'm getting my PhD in an EE lab that specializes in optical technology.
From a theory standpoint, I regularly go toe to toe with physicists and from a practical standpoint, I get to develop and use ML systems to optimize optical flow. EE is so broad that it is tangiental to basically every other topic.

I understand that you may be speaking from a place of ignorance or frustration, but very little of EE is fucking solving circuits.

why not study physics and pursue a career in engineering instead? Your "intellectual stimulation" is no more of a challenge than it is a tedious exercise on patience and bean counting. What value is there to learning the trick to plow through calculations over and over again?

Its a lot easier to get a job in engineering than it is in physics.
Also as someone who did mechatronic engineering, EE gets a fair bit harder than the stuff in OP's pic.
I'm not gonna pretend its harder than equally high level physics but its not as easy as the science elitists will have you believe.
