If we assume our Universe is a simulation as part of another system... What coding or design reason exists for the appearance of "dark matter" ?

All the simulations we generate within, have commonalities with how they are coded or generated.

I am basing an upstream possibility on downstream data, because of a lack of upstream data to pull from.
