Due to the outer casing, getting up there would've been nearly impossible due to the slope and the relative flat surface of the outer casing. The story is similar for the main entrance who while lower on the pyramid, was also covered and still fairly high up the slope.
Also, many of the tombs and graves of Pharaoh's throughout the millenia, were robbed by their descendents who plundered them for easy gold to enrich the Egyptian state with and use that very same gold to furnish their own tombs with. There is little to be passively done to prevent a king robbing a tomb with the backing of an entire state apparatus at their disposal, including having tens of thousands of workers.
