But what is it? The descriptions of it on the internet seem really vague. And all the poli sci majors Ive met cant ever really say what it is they study either. Like are they using a heavy amount of statistics? Is it basically just a mishmash of psychology and sociology? What is it that they do?

Since Psychology studies' replication rate is just 36%.
So less reliable than coin flipping (50% odds).

Complex societal phenomena can still be examined via the scientific method. Just because the sheer complexity of the subject matter makes the development of robust theories more difficult doesnt mean that political science isn’t a science in the literal definition of the term
