Dark Matter/Dark Energy - Where are we at on this?
I'm a brainlet, so let me put down what I understand regarding this at the moment.
When we look at galaxies, allegedly the stars closer to the edge of the galaxy are revolving around the center of the galaxy at the same speed or faster than the stars closer to the center of the galaxy.
Because of this observation, we need a way to explain this discrepancy, because the expectation is that stars on the outer edges would be revolving slower than stars closer to the core.
Is this the whole reason we need dark matter/dark energy as of right now?
