In delta the k represents the column and in [C] the k represents the column
for m rows
so is the Sum iterating from the top left of the matrix to the bottom right?

pick a row (i), pick a column (j), move along them.

if you colour the elements that you move over you'll get something that looks like a distorted plus sign

It's literally just the definition of matrix multiplication. In this case the Kronecker delta is just the matrix elements of the identity matrix, so I'm not sure what the point of this equation is other than for pedagogical reasons.
