>>13268395>In old occult book it said your imagination of yourself plays a huge role in how you will "become"This is not just an old occult philosophy. This point is in every existentialists philosophy that I've ever read. This is exactly what Neitzsche meant when he said "Become who you already are." Kierkegaard, Sartre, Kafka, Michelstaeder, Heidegger, etc, have ALL said this before.
Here's Kafka's take on it
>"Know thyself" [ Erkenne dich selbst ] does not mean "Observe thyself." "Observe thy self" is what the Serpent says. It means: "Make yourself master of your actions." But you are so already, you are the master of your actions. So that saying means: "Misjudge yourself! [ Verkenne dich ] Destroy yourself!" which is something evil-and only if one bends down very far indeed does one also hear the good in it, which is: "In order, to make of yourself what you are."The point is not to sit around all day thinking about yourself trying to get to know yourself, the point is to realize you are masters of your actions and so can become yourself
