Structuralchads, what is the best free and open source software for structural analysis (FEM) out there? Also which commercial ones do you use at work and which one do you think is best?

At my Uni they use picrel and Robot Structural Analysis

I dunno if it's the best but I have some experience with Ansys, in particular comparing different models for elastic deformation (hyperelastic, neo-hookean). I liked using it, didn't make me want to kill myself.

Is there any difference between FDM and FVM for uniform grids? The formulation is obviously different, but unless the grid is non uniform, it seems like they reduce to the same set of simultaneous equations. I'm not actually an engineer though, I just like to program random shit like this for fun.
