Would it be better to fall to the ground in figure a or figure b?
In figure A you're travelling in an arc as the platform pivots at the hinge, in figure B you're just falling straight down.
I think it would be better to fall straight down, because in figure A the force of gravity is the same, except the distance is further so to fall at the speed of gravity you would need to be travelling faster.
