It's quite a feat. The rock has magnetically aligned in such a way to create more of themselves out of other things. The crystals grow as you do. Claiming space in this world before inevitable grinding to dust and melted and burnt.
Eventually all things evaporate. Ask the supernova. It will tell you the same.
