Anon anyone whos smart knows iq is just a shitty arbitrary number used to determine your ability to learn a concept. However the issue is a large part of this is done by a psychologist and factors in a lot of opinions on the indivudal Thus the metric is prone to bias and not a good determiner of intelligence on its own. You should base your intelligence around what you do for a living and what your capable of doing.

I realize that the difference between 115 and 120 can not be predicted accurately using IQ tests since there is a lot of noise amongst the signal, but it would be good to know a ballpark estimate.
How wise would it be to take the performance on the first few tests as a half-decent approximation?

but you have enough doubt in you to act as a seed. being intelligent is about doing new things and solving new problems. And this may only mean 'new to you' most of the time. what matters is constantly challenging yourself and actively figuring out solutions to problems. you wont always be right but if you always observe your wrong answers you can figure out how to find the right ones.

Seriously though, online IQ tests are actual bullshit - even/especially if you paid money for it - but a real psychologist-administered IQ test costs like $500. If you're in high school (or lower) *maybe* you can get the school to foot the bill for one if you claim you should be in the gifted program or whatever. Also you can take the Mensa admission test for $60, but I think you don't get your actual score and it's pass/fail, where 'pass' would basically mean >130.

Why only the first test? You cannot learn to do them better, if it's a good test of fluid intelligence that does not reuse concepts or puzzles from other tests your not going to get much better by solving more of them. At best you could learn that because every test is relatively short every question is easy and you shouldn't look for patterns that are too complicated.

I don't think he thinks intelligence doesn't matter, from what I've seen so far he thinks intelligence is important but the best way to know if you're intelligent enough is to do a thing and see how it goes not to check your IQ and then obsess about the fact that your score is 3 points lower than Scientist Average or Genius Average.
