If you were to put the word "FOOD" on a panel of many different interactive doors, then other words on the other doors and somehow switch them up daily/hourly while always keeping the food behind the correctly labeled door the cat would begin to recognize the association over time provided they were smart enough to do so, especially if you gave them incentive to choose the right one, like a treat if they got it right the first time...
Actually, now that I'm thinking about it labeled buttons which activate a pouring mechanism would be a better choice.
I have had and been around many cats, and I can tell you some are surprisingly intelligent and keen, while others are dumb as rocks lol. I even taught one of my cats how to unlock deadbolt locks and twist doorhandles.
So it would be possible to a degree, and if you put other things behind the options like "CATNIP" and "WATER" a smarter cat could recognize and discern the difference between them and the dumbie options which would do nothing.
And again, you could switch the buttons around to prove kitty is actually recognizing the patterns the words create, meaning he is essentially reading at that point.
