I lived in Germany for about a year. I used to just buy like 25 cent beer at Lidl mostly. I would also frequently drink it in public as it's the greatest freedom the Germans enjoy.

I really like Lidl's beer selection. Great beer for almost no money. I agree with what you said, there's nothing better than drinking beer outside on a hot summer day.

I lived near Stuttgart and traveled around mainly just though the south. I used to drink this stuff a lot-- no idea if Germans consider it good. There was another with a white and green label with a tree that I thought was really good as well but I don't remember the name... I'm more of an IPA person usually so a lot of the random German beer I was ordering kind of blends together in my memory.

That beer is great. You can by it anywhere. The only thing that I dislike about it is that it comes in a 0.3l bottle. I've recently started drinking craftbeer and it has blown my mind. Didn't know beer could be so different!

The germans neglect IPAs. You can get one on tap in a few bars but selection in most supermarkets is very limited for IPAs. It felt like germans don't really consider IPAs to be beer at all.

I found a nice craft tripel IPA which sat at around 11% and had strong malty caramel elements like you would get from a dunkel. Not what I look for in a beer but two of them were hitting me like a truck.

Beer and bread. Germans excel at both. Not much else lol.

Plus the German locals didn't react so I felt like I was going to be considered the one in the wrong somehow.
