>>13258625The answer is something less than macromolecules. Many chemicals get big, especially organic ones like terpenes and tannins, flavonoids, ect. They still act like independent substances and don't chain together; Molecules are the base unit of a chemical.
I think there is a limit somewhere desu because at some point the bonds are getting so far apart that interactions start getting defined by latency. I think any molecule that could be this large would be a lot more like a meta material. It would be interesting but for now science and the world don't know.
But for the answer of biggest possible polymer chain or macromolecule, infinite is correct. Though realistically due to physics, you can only make anything so big before gravity starts creating pressure and causing your giant molecule to break down. A solid rubber moon would be an impressive feat still none the less
