Give it to me straight.

Can I go to school for mechanical engineering at age 32 or should I just accept that I waited too long and be a mechanic or something? I'm already comfortable with basic physics, basic calculus, basics of material science especially metallurgy, so the workload itself I'm not worried about. I also have extensive personal experience in areas related to the field, like car racing and metal fabrication, as a basis for intuition. I'm worried about my age being an issue.

Also I can't travel, like to china for instance, or across the country to a factory.
