>>13249002Who is talking about aliens? I'm not claiming they're from space or that they have been to space. I'm claiming they are from this planet, they evolved here like us and have always been here. Second, humans are a super fucking recent addition to this planet, 300k years, and we have only been a industrial civilization for century or so. In contrast, the earth has been around for billions of years. It isn't preposterous to forward a hypothesis that we weren't the first industrial civilization on this planet, we are the existence proof that this planet can produce very intelligent life after all, and last I check there is no objective rule written into reality only us could've been the first smart species on the planet earth.
Imo, if one can forward the hypothesis that intelligent life on some other planet is reasonable because earth is an example of a planet producing intelligent life and the universe if filled with many planets, than I should be able to use that same talking point to hypothesize about a pre-human civilization on this planet, especially when we, again, have EMPERICAL proof this planet can produced intelligent life.
Put it like this, if we went extinct tomorrow, it's estimated based on certain conditions, that it would only take 10-100 million years for all obvious pieces of evidence of our civilization to be gone. Which means, for example, some early mammal could've rose briefly to civilization building during the Paleocene epoch, about 60 million years ago, and we would have no obvious fucking idea.
Or in reverse, let's hypothesize that in about 100 years that we make a major fuck up as a species and we femi pardox filter our civ. But a few of us survive and come to the conclusion that repopulating the planet is suicide since it's what almost lead to our extinction. This small leftover community of humans could thrive for millions of years with left over tech.
