How do kids take notes in school these days?
I graduated from college back in 2009 and was using pencil and paper.
Apparently having a laptop is a requirement even for high school these days.
So do kids like just type away on their keyboards or what?

I'm one of the only people in my classes that still uses pencil and paper. Some students have laptops and type, some have tablets they draw on, but I would say most people don't take notes at all. Most just watch during lecture, studying the material later. A laptop isn't really a requirement though; I just got one in my last year of undergrad. I have had a couple classes where a smartphone was pretty much a requirement to answer questions on some meme app during class, but if you can't afford one they make exceptions.

A tablet seems like the best option nowadays once you get used to it, but I haven't bothered to learn. Typing out math notethe obviously a pain in the ass.

I would keep using pen and paper, however I go through 240page large notebooks every month because I'm a scatter brain and work too fast and end up making mistakes.

electronic notes are really convenient for classes where you don't have to write lots of math or diagrams. typing is easier, they are more legible, and they are more easily searchable, rewritable, etc.. access to a computer is probably required for high school but I doubt there are many high schools that allow you to use laptops or tablets to take notes since you can easily pull up social media or games on them. in my math courses at uni, everyone except a few tablet weirdos were using good ol pencil and paper, whereas in my history course everyone was typing notes into their laptops.

For the most part I just use a tablet and stylus. I don't mind using pencil/paper, but it's pretty convenient to undo mistakes and draw perfect shapes. I occasionally use written flashcards for definitions/concepts.

Me too. I also make a lot of serious typos and I don't notice them until I'm halfway down the page, so I usually just flip to a new page and start over. I also get pain and spasms in my wrist sometimes, so I tend to write really large.

I use blank printer paper and a pen (I like the G2 pilot pens). If I make a mistake I just cross it out no biggie

In HS I just used paper and pencil, kids have to use shitty chrome books now because le google lobbying. In college I got an iPad and a good note taking app which can detect handwriting, it’s super handy.

My recommendation is a dual laptop/tablet with stylus like a Surface. You get the best of both worlds and have all of your notes digitally backed up and searchable.

Most of the time I was lazy though and just relied on the professor's published notes. The tablet is still very useful for scratchwork and reports though.

When I was in school. I'd take quick notes during lecture. Then when at home I'd redo them in a much more coherent/organized manner the same day while it was still fresh.
It helped reinforce the lesson for the day, and it made studying for tests a lot easier.

Currently studying chemistry and physics in university. I never see anyone with a laptop during lectures, either the teacher writes everything on the blackboard and we copy it or the lecture notes/powerpoint are put online and we can just download it.

This. Never read my notes, but I engage better with concepts and remember them after note-taking

Im a boomer an dont use that gay shit, and in my classes there were only 2 people max using a computer to take notes, but there were professors in my uni that didnt allow computers or cellphones in classes bc there were always retards that used to scream across the room for another dude to go to whatsapp.
The same could happen in highschool so yeh...
Students are too retarded to be trusted with that much freedom in class like having a computer in class where they could be browsing youtube instead of listening to the lecture

TlDr people are retarded in uni, so nevermind in highschool

mine did so I just played wow and krunker.io, most fund I'd had in Czech and history class in ages, much better than playing it on paper
