>>13243268The entire argument is bullshit. How long does it take for sand to break down? How about forever, silicon oxides are stable. Plastics will eventually become broken down to sand/clay size particles and become indistinguishable from inorganic small particules in soil.
Floating plastic particles in the sea are the real problem, but these do photodegrade at a rather fast pace so we are talking years or a decade not centuries.
