What is FPS? Frame per second.
An image has a single frame displayed (theoretically) for an infinite amount of time.
The limit is then 0.

How did you came about with infinity?

Why?

I only said it was a single frame in an infinite amount of time. I never referred to a single second.
The "per second" in FPS does NOT mean 1 second. It means per unit of time, with the dimension of a second.

By reducing the time gap between two frames you increase the number of frames on a specified time window. Make the time gap approach zero then the number of frames approach infinity, and for a time window of 1s you get infinite fps and a still image.
