>>13244920>Because I’m not fucking old or crippled and enjoy activities enabled by my fitness and youth?Yes? If you were healthy, if you could enjoy what you're doing, if you live freely, even if you were 1000+ years old, why would you succum to death voluntarily? The only reason to accept death is because body breaking down, your will crumbling, your inability to be functional, your loss of freedom of movement, your cognitive function degrading, your inability to enjoy life, etc. Aka standard organic aging. Once you remove the large issues with organic breakdown, you maybe left with much more freedom with life extension.
Imagine replacing your decrepit weak arms/legs with metallic/robot arm that could do its job as you want it to. Now the problems of weak leg/freedom of navigation is solved.
Imagine replacing your heart/lung/kidney with synthetic long lasting parts. Now you no longer have to deal with dialyses or various other organic issues related to essential organic failure.
Imagine if you could simply replace the torso in whole and keep just the face and the functions necessary to keep the brain/head with synthetic functional equivalents. Now you no longer have to upkeep the lower body.
Imagine if you could replace the face and just keep the brain alive in a synthetic shell while having the artificial sensors and the brain matter kept alive in artificial chamber. Now you no longer have to worry about degradation of facial muscles/bone loss/etc.
Imagine replacing parts of the brain with artificial neurons, so that we can store/read/write memory from a perfect synthetic part. Imagine if we can replace the computation part of the brain with a perfect synthetic part. Now the organic part thats necessary for maintenance is reduced to few grams left.
There are lot of ways in which humans can stave off death. The problem is technological readiness. That may or may not be there in time for people alive today. We can only hope. But there's no guarantee.
