The only realistic solution given how widespread the contamination is would be to engineer a bug that can eat it. However, that has the potential to wreck the biosphere to a near apocalyptic level, or render most plastic stuff so short-lived it's basically useless if the thing evolves to live in other places.

Then you just burn it in plasma reactor powered initially by fission reactor and later by burning of the plastic itself.

Extracting gold from ocean is not worth it even though in ocean water there is like 20 million tons of gold, and thats a thing that is worth like a thousand dollars an ounce. The amount of work that it would take is so titanic that building a damn in gibraltar and draining the mediterraneum with it to some land to the jews would be a joke compared to it. It would be just worth it embracing the possible cancers if that were the case. Its like mercury, once it enters the body there is no way to take it out, it would be a miracle if we found a way to do it
