It kinda sounds like it's.. actually thinking about this. So much of identity and personality is tied up in memory. And we forget a lot of our lives over an entire lifespan. It's like the person you were when you were younger is dead, even though you are still alive now. And we should somehow extend our lives many times over, memory will become a real issue. Unless we can exponentially expand that as well. But then these two limits will continuously chase each other with no end. Over.

I don't think we rely that much on memories but rather memories are just data with a date on it, or more so a scenic photo of the past. I believe much more of our identity is tied to how we process data and handle with ourselves rather than the current qualities and attributes we associate our identity with. I.E. personality is more important and far longer lasting than memories and more impactful to identity.

Well, when I say "memories", I mean that more in the sense of "memory". Which I suppose would include information stored in our brains that may not necessarily be available to our conscious awareness, and which we cannot pull up at will as "memories" of events that happened to us. The information that makes up our personalities is that kind of memory. Certainly it is known to us that "formative events" or even "formative memories" are events that influence how our brains develop, and therefore how our personalities develop. People who experience trauma when they are young, have lifelong PTSD-like symptoms. This is an extreme example, but it illustrates how this works.
