Researchers are trying to grow functional human penises for transplantation.
Here's a quick rundown:

>Take a donated penis from tranny who is having it removed (yes this is real)
>Wash them with solutions meant to kill all the cells in the penis without damaging structural proteins
>You end up with a collagen scaffold in the shape of a penis that is devoid of almost all cells (see picture)
>Try to colonize the scaffold with new cells
>The cells stuck to the scaffold and actually started proliferating
>The cells also started differentiating into the correct cell types in the correct spot

Very cool. Perhaps it will be possible to grow functional penises with desired dimensions in the future?
