The problem is that managers of these corps tend to not care about anything but profit. The people in the firms do care about the safety, but they get whipped by these devils at the top. Actually, I don't think getting rid of money here would stop that either because that behaviour seems to be unavoidable in any social hierarchy.
What we do need is vigilance and transparency. What we need is awareness of the problem and constant criticism of marketing and corruption within the industry.
Also, a vaccine that only stops "70%" of transmission sounds like a vaccine that is not well understood. The mind-blowing thing is that covid has a GOOD rate of preventing transmission compared to other vaccines.
That said, a vaccine is a band-aid only, we really needed to enforce vaccines and quarantines for most deadly illnesses 2bh, but we just never had a society complex enough to do this for anything below the black death in death rates.
