Hello /sci/,
let's say I want to self-learn physics. I am pretty good at math (I'm very used to doing proofs and have a master's degree in Economics), so that's not really a problem (I can probably pick up extra math without much of a difficulty, I think). Where would I start?
Mostly, I am interested in learning practically cool stuff...stuff that could potentially let me invent could little gadgets (im not interested in inventing something to get rich or any bs like that...just want a cool hobby). I am also not interested in "discovering the laws of the universe" or anything like that. I don't really care about learning string theory and whatnot; it just pisses me off that I do not even know what voltage is (I do now, but you get what I mean). I should mention that I did take high school physics and chemistry (long time ago), so it's not like I don't know really basic shit (eg that atoms are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons, f = ma, stupid shit like in calculus saying that the first derivative of distance is velocity, and the derivative of that is acceleration, vectors etc....though I basically know linear algebra very well due to econ), but obviously my understanding is very limited.
Is it a good idea to self teach physics? Is it worth it? Is there something more interesting out there (eg Chemistry)? Or should I just stick to my pseudoscientific profession?
Thanks!
