Hi /sci/

I was in India when I started visiting 4chan to fap on /gif/ since the age of 15. Then started to visit /sci/ and got interested in math from the pinned post. I prepared for JEE got in an IIT and now I'm doing a math PhD in an ivy league.

Thanks to /sci/ I have left my shithole country. How has /sci/ changed your life?

Most junta there is really unguided. I dont blame them for the faults in the system and society. They end up there against the will and the expectations are set by the families. Very few have any idea of what a college degree really is worth.

Here in US, I see that bachelor students have a clearer vision and set goals. Probably because they are asked to research and think about this while applying.

Most were undeserving jerks. Some of them were pretty nice. I learned a lot about linux because of the culture there. Now I write bash scripts to sync my latex across devices and feel like a chad lol

hi anon, here is how /sci/ changed my life. i went to graduate school at an ivy after undergrad at a very prestigious school (but not an ivy). after years of being in that community i had very idealistic views of how things were and how to live my life given my idealistic worldview that was nurtured by my elite upbringing.

becoming a /sci/ anon for me was mostly a crash course in how repugnant and incredibly uneducated humanity actually is. it was a lifesaving reality check about how shitty and low-IQ life is for the vast majority of people in the world, who are much less privileged than me. i feel enlightened, now, because i see how vast ignorance is. i would never have been able to appreciate the overwhelming magnitude of ignorance in the world had i not come here
