I heard a couple of people say that the next big resource conflict will be over fresh water.
A common think they bring up is that 98% of the water on the planet is saltwater, and that out of the remaining 2%, 87% is trapped within glaciers. And as an example of someone 'in the know' who is preparing for that, Bush bought land that is estimated to contain about 8,900 cubic miles of water.
Is there truth to water becoming an increasing issue in the future?
I am a little skeptical since you can always desalinate saltwater, at an energy cost of course. But from what I looked up, the amount of energy is not that crazy either.
What do you think about this?
