why do i always learn about this concept as some bank giving out 272% returns on investment? did that ever happen in banking history? today a savings account has like 1-2% return on investment.

dude, this example is so overused. i've heard this example in math courses and in youtube examples/lecture videos. when does a bank ever give 272% returns?

it's like e ^(rt) and the rate is set so low, the bank might as well just say "giving you 2% return man" than "continuously compounding"

idk if there was an actual time when euler discovered this number banks actually considered giving 272% returns or if it's just been the most unrealistic of the use of e that is just continuously used rather than giving legit examples.
