Is modern cosmology just a front for high-tech military research? Why are billions of dollars spent on taking photos of galaxies and analysis of temperatures and pressures of stars? Governments never like to spend money on research unless it benefits them in some way. The only thing that could benefit from this is testing high-tech optics , satellite systems, and image processing algorithms. All of this has military uses. This is what "astrophysics" is really about: testing military optics and communications systems.
